Beaducation Will Be at Maker Faire!

Have you heard of the Maker Faire? It's a three-day showcase of technology, crafts, fashion, science, food, art, and more. This is the seventh year the Bay Area has hosted the event, and the first time Beaducation is participating. We are so excited!

Our booth will be outside under the large tent in The Yard (located at the north end of the parking lot). We'll be demonstrating stamping on metal, including make-and-takes. That's right! Stop by our booth and make a stamped pendant that you get to keep!

From the Maker Faire website, here is what the event is all about:
Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.
The launch of Maker Faire in the Bay Area in 2006 demonstrated the popularity of making and interest among legions of aspiring makers to participate in hands-on activities and learn new skills at the event. A record 165,000 people attended the two flagship Maker Faire in the Bay Area. A family event, the vast majority attend with children. In 2013, over 60 community-driven Mini Maker Faires are expected around the world, including Tokyo and Rome.
Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. It’s a venue for makers to show examples of their work and interact with others about it. Many makers say they have no other place to share what they do. DIY (Do-It-Yourself) is often invisible in our communities, taking place in shops, garages and on kitchen tables. It’s typically out of the spotlight of traditional art or science or craft events. Maker Faire makes visible these projects and ideas that we don’t encounter every day.
You can see why we are delighted to be part of a powerful movement; powerful in terms of industry and growth, but also in terms of how making things changes people's lives. Please join us this weekend to see what it's all about!

One logistical note: parking is very tight in that area. We recommend biking (free monitored bike valet!) or taking public transportation if at all possible. Click HERE for a page that outlines all your options.

See you this weekend at the Faire!
