Creative time...My Crafting Queue.

This past weekend I was chatting with a friend (the scenario involved a pool, sunshine, 24 fabulous women, drinks and a birthday crown...ask Lisa for the details!) about beads. This friend was making a terrific right-angle weave ring. She asked me if I was working on any fun bead projects.

Fun bead projects?

You mean outside of work? Not a class sample, a web sample, a gotta-get-it-done-at-the-last-minute sample?

Ummm...not lately.

It got me thinking about my creativity. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to create. I was practically crafting a basket out of the pretty place mat we had at our places at dinner on Saturday night. (Again, consult Lisa on those details.) It just seems like I don't have enough time.

There are so many things that I want to do. I would love to actually bead again. Make things of beads and wire and metal. Make them just for me. ME!!! I need to jewelry making back into my crafting queue.

My crafting queue consists of many disciplines.

Quilting...

Knitting...

Spinning... (as in yarn, not as on-a-bike-in-the-gym)

 Weaving...

Cooking...(Yes, as a matter of fact, those are BBQ'ed Oysters)

And dressing up in funny clothes...(Note to self...stand on the curb when posing with tall people.)

I've gotta get some time in there to make jewelry.

Inspired jewelry.  Jewelry that I want to share with others. This necklace was strung in a mad frenzy after a particularly inspiring day of teaching. I love to bead.

I am going out on a limb and making a public statement. I WILL make jewelry. I am going to fit it into my crafting queue.

I'll start small. Not too much pressure. I am marking it on my calendar and committing one night a month to some kind of jewelry making. Not class samples or pieces that I have to finish for a deadline. This is going to be jewelry for ME.

I'm going to consult my calendar. I'll let you know how it goes. Someone hand me my round nose pliers...I'm goin' in.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with several creative hobbies. While I think I'd call beading and jewelry making my primary love right now, I still hardly devote time to it unless there is a class or a deadline. Good luck prying away some creative time for beading! :)
